Vickie,

If you can bring something (even something small) you are more than welcome to come. We would accept books on gardening or even something that can be used in the yard. Hope this helps and I hope to see you there.

Thank you,
Odette

This is such a good idea, and just a neighborly thing to do. I've missed the event twice since hearing of it last year, but inspired by its existence, just got over being intimidated by potbound perennials and divided them into an amazing amount of plant material to spread around. I live in north Oakland near Emeryville, where back in the 1920s the annual Golden Gate flower show was the big spring event at our local library. I may see about starting a small local garden thing in our area, but definitely want to make it to one of the Lakeshore exchanges.

Hi Sandy,
I do hope you start an exchange on San Juan Island. It's so gratifying.

Re: clothing swap, thanks so much.

Hi Kathleen,
I'd be happy to talk to you on the phone about how I manage the plant exchange. Please give me a call at 510-866-8482.

We do keep an eye on things. People who come to the plant exchange are very pleasant and stay within range of taking the same amount as they brought. The plant exchange is pretty self-regulating with regard to that aspect.

Talk to you soon.

Hi Kimberly,
Gardeners have good karma and are really nice people. I have never encountered a problem with the exchange re: people leaving with more than they brought. It all works out on its own as fair and equitable.

Hi Vickie,
I hope you did make it to our plant exchange. I'm sorry I didn't catch your note before the event. As you can imagine, the day before is very busy for me. Just to let you know ... after the event, there are usually plants left over and I leave them on the curb for anyone to take.

If you didn't make it on 3/21, I hope we'll see you in October. I can always use volunteer help ... and of course you would be welcome to take plants then, even if you didn't bring any. Hopefully, you will have some plants by October. Good luck with your herb garden!
